Deck the Halls

Good thing about today: It’s Friday.

Bad thing about today: I was greeted this morning with a –6 F temperature..if that doesn’t wake you up, I don’t know what will.

But besides complaining talking about the temperatures, I finished decorating my apartment for the holiday season!! So take a minute to enjoy my version of “Deck the Halls”!

Deck the halls with boughs of holly,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Tis the season to be jolly,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Don we now our gay apparel,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Troll the ancient Yule tide carol,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

See the blazing Yule before us,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Strike the harp and join the chorus,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Follow me in merry measure,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

While I tell of Yule tide treasures,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

And can you believe that it’s already Week 10 of the 12 Weeks of Christmas Cookies..we’re rolling right along! Today’s recipe I brainstormed on my 2 hour drive home to my parent’s house for Thanksgiving. We ended up having to make 3 types of bars for a family in town, so I contributed with my newfound recipe idea!

Peppermint Cookie Dough Brownies

  • 1 box of brownie mix—family size + ingredients called for on box
  • 1 pouch of Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix + ingredients called for on box
  • 1 bag of Ghirardelli Chocolate Peppermint Bark

  • Preheat oven according to brownie mix directions.
  • Meanwhile prepare brownie mix as directed on box and pour into 9 x 13 greased pan.
  • Next prepare sugar cookie dough as directed on package.
  • Crush up all Ghirardelli squares and mix into sugar cookie dough.
  • Take cookie dough and roll into Tbsp size balls. Drop evenly over the brownies.

  • Bake according to brownie mix directions.
  • Cool completely, about 1 hour, cut into even squares.

RECIPE NOTES: These were even better than I had imagined. How can you go wrong with 3 favorite treats in one?! Put these on your holiday baking list!

Meanwhile mom was baking her Pumpkin Pie Crunch Bars

Your cookie dough brownies look amazing! What a brilliant idea :) And the holiday decorations look great! We're putting ours up this afternoon :)

This year I'm baking red velvet sandwich cookies, white chocolate-dipped molasses cookies, gingerbread people, and chocolate-dipped pretzels...oh, and peanut butter balls, too! It's so much fun baking for the holidays, isn't it?

This is so basic, but I wanna bake chewy sugar cookies. Or snickerdoodles. Your collection of cookies is so impressive!

I love your ornament collection, especially the baker bear. Seeing all of them, I can certainly see that the kitchen/baking is closest to your heart (mine too). Those brownies also look fantastic. Great idea. By the way, I'm holding a giveaway on my blog for Orglamix Organic makeup and you're welcome to come by and enter.

That's really creative, what a good idea!(: I like how you used the chocolate peppermint bark, it always looks good but I've never tried it before.
