Headed Home

The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” – St. Augustine

Please excuse my absence. It occurred due to the fact that I was doing a lot of this

And none of this

Like I said in my last farewell post, I took an impromptu trip for 5 days out to the West CoastLos Angeles to be exact. My cousin and I packed as much as we possibly could into 4 full days. I came back feeling as though we were there for at least a week when I looked back at all we did. I am still recovering from little sleep—but it was so worth it. So for the next 4 days, I will do a recap of everyday of our trip, and then recipe posting will resume.

Hope you enjoy this “virtual” vacation!

Day 1 (Thursday, October 7th)

We flew from Minneapolis to Denver for a layover. Meanwhile I ate some breakfast at the Denver Chophouse & Brewery.

Ham omelet, breakfast potatoes, and fruit—not the best omelet I’ve had, but enough to hold me over.

And then we were off to our destination!

We arrived at LAX at 10:30 am, so we still had a whole day to fill! First stop, our hotel. (p.s. Please spare yourself, and don’t ever stay at the All Suites Hotel, unless of course you like a bachelorette type setting and rude customer service).

Traveling sure does work up an appetite I tell ya! So we decided to take advantage of our hotel’s restaurant and get some food before heading into Hollywood. Of course, it was still morning in LA, so this was my “2nd” breakfast.

Fresh seafood omelet, breakfast potatoes. SO good. I highly recommend either ordering/making a seafood omelet soon!

Then we hopped on the bus and headed to Hollywood Blvd.

There’s so much to see and do..you never know what to expect!

Like randomly meeting up with Shrek..

Or tons of horn honking and fender benders..

And of course, no shortage of people everywhere..

[Chinese Grauman Theatre]

The Kodak Theatre

[Famous Academy Awards Location]

Shopping at the Hollywood & Highland Mall.

Loved this sign I found when we were shopping..

The famous Roosevelt hotel..should have stayed here ha ha!

And on the way back to our hotel, I could not contain my excitement when we stumbled across this…

Cantaloop Frozen Yogurt! Now this is exciting—I’ve never once been to a self-serve frozen yogurt place, and lucky me, California has all kinds! :-)

All the flavor choices..

Sauces and syrup selections..

Toppings galore!

Our final creations! (mine in front—vanilla and peanut butter frozen yogurt, cap n’ crunch, strawberries)

You know it’s good when it’s the size of your head.

Hey Cantaloop..need a promoter?

All I would want is compensation in frozen yogurt!

After being up for 22 hours straight, it was time to say “Goodnight Hollywood, see ya tomorrow!”

Tune in tomorrow for the Day 2 re-cap!
