Day 2: Hitting Up Hollywood

First things first…

Have you tried this new gum yet?!

Photo3545

Extra Dessert Delights gum was released this past month and comes in three flavors—key lime pie, strawberry shortcake, and mint chocolate chip (pictured above). I’ve tried the strawberry shortcake which isn’t anything amazing, but this mint chocolate chip? Yup, I’m obsessed!

After being up for so many hours, sleep sure felt good! We ate some breakfast in our room. Being that we had a refrigerator, we bought milk, fruit, and cereal so we could save some money by not eating out all day.

We hopped on the bus and made our way to the Madame Taussad’s Wax Museum—I was ecstatic to finally get the chance to visit a wax museum!

Check out the general trivia on making a wax figure..

  • 350 hours to sculpt a figure
  • 175 hours to mold a figure
  • 145 hours to insert hair and style figure
  • 15 hours to make a pair of eyes
  • 30 hours to make a pair of teeth
  • 50 hours to color a head
  • 35 hours to costume a figure
  • All in all—800 hours to get just ONE wax person!

Now please allow me to introduce to you Jim Carrey…

Johnny Depp…

Spiderman

Lance Armstrong

Tony Hawk

Obama..

Our photo op..

And there were SO many more fun ones to see. I definitely recommend going to a Madame Tussauds location—you’ll be amazed!

Next stop, the Hollywood Museum. It contains some of the oldest Hollywood artifacts, pictures, and memorabilia. It was also the first Max Factor make up store in Hollywood. Plus modern day movie costumes, etc.

Original Max Factor makeup..

All old photos of Hollywood back in the 1800’s-1900’s. A lot has changed, but I was surprised at how similar some things still are too!

Lucille Ball’s personal make up room!

High School Musical costumes..

Elvis’s personal bath robe..

The Dream Girls outfits…

After all this walking and touring I couldn’t ignore my grumbling belly any longer. I’d been eying up The French Crepe Co. and knew that’s what I wanted for lunch!

I had the La Marie Antoinette where you could choose any 4 fillings; I had Eggs, Tomatoes, Onions, Fresh Spinach, and Turkey.

These crepes were no joke—they were huge & delicious—perfect in my book!

Next it was time to jump on the Hollywood Trolley for a city tour!

Hotel where Pretty Woman was filmed..

Paramount Pictures Studio

Sunset Gower Studios—CSI was produced here..

Raleigh Studios..known for shows such as Jeopardy..

After the tour, we decided we’d had our share of Hollywood for the day, so we took the subway to downtown Los Angeles for some big city fun.

After walking around through the Jewelry District and the Fashion District, it was time for supper already! We both agreed we were craving pizza which brought us to the California Pizza Kitchen!

We settled on doing a pizza half and half—my cousin got all cheese, and I wanted to try the vegetarian with Japanese eggplant.

“Mozzarella cheese, baby broccoli, grilled Japanese eggplant, roasted corn, sliced red onions, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and our tomato sauce.”

Hit the spot!

Tune in tomorrow for the Universal Studios re-cap!

What’s your favorite big city??

SO much fun. I've always wanted to go to that Wax museum (although I think it'd freak me out a bit ;)). The crepe place looks awesome. I had my first bite of a crepe this past weekend- how delicious are they? Favorite big city...I'm honestly not a BIG city fan. Charleston is big enough for me <3
